Six (6) Search Warrants (SWs) were implemented by detectives of the CIDG RFU 4A together with the PRO 4A personnel against the leaders and members of a criminal gang that led to the arrest of three (3) men and the confiscation of five (5) firearms, two (2) grenades, over 220 rounds of ammunition, 12 magazines and clips, firearm accessories and camouflage uniforms on Tuesday (January 29, 2019) at about 5:00 AM in Purok Kanluran, Brgy Ulango, Calamba City, Laguna

 

Regional Chief, PSSUPT LAWRENCE CAJIPE said in his report to CIDG Acting Director, PCSUPT AMADOR V CORPUS named the arrested persons as JIMMY EVANGELISTA y LUGO, PERIANO EVANGELISTA y LUGO and LEONCIO ORUGA y MAMPLATA, wherein, seized from their possession were two (2) M2 caliber .30 rifle, caliber .22 revolver, 135 rounds of ammunition, six (6) magazines, 2 holsters and two (2) AFP camouflage uniforms.

 

Meanwhile, the other subject persons of the said SWs identified as CANDIDO EVANGELISTA y LUGO, FELIX MAGPANTAY y EVANGELISTA and CIRIACO QUIATCHON y VARGAS were not around during the police operation, however, authorities were able to confiscate two (2) grenades, caliber 5.56 revolver, caliber .9mm pistol, six (6) magazines and clips, 89 rounds of ammunition, handcuff, a silencer and camouflage uniform.

 

Candido and Jimmy Evangelista are the alleged leaders of the “Evangelista Criminal Group” involved in gun-for-hire, gunrunning, illegal drug trading, robbery/extortion, cattle rustling and illegal gambling activities in Laguna and Batangas provinces, while the other subject persons are the alleged members.

 

A case for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law) was filed against the subject individuals while additional case for violation of RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) was filed against Candido Evangelista and Felix Magpantay.

 

In other news, the No. 1 City Level Most Wanted Person (MWP) in Oroquieta City, identified as RICO BLASCO y ALIJAY was arrested for violation of RA 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) by the manhunt teams from the CIDG RFU 10 based in Misamis Occidental under the direct supervision of its Regional Chief, PSSUPT TOM TUZON, Oroquieta CPS and Misamis Occidental PIB, at about 9:00 AM of the same date in Brgy Poblacion 1, Oroquieta City.   ###
