A 58-year-old official of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) died after fighting back with the police during the service of two (2) Warrants of Arrest (WOAs) on Wednesday morning (February 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM) in P-6 Rosales St., Brgy. 15 San Ignacio, Butuan City.
Combined elements of the CIDG RFU 13, Butuan CPS, RID13, and Philippine Army Intelligence Operatives served two (2) Warrants of Arrest (WOAs) against MANUEL GILO y MAGANTI a.k.a “Jino” or “Saldo” for the crimes of Robbery with Homicide and Robbery issued by Hon. Hilarion P Clapis Jr, Executive Judge of RTC 11th Judicial Region Br.3, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.
According to Regional Chief of CIDG RFU 13, PLTCOL CHOLI JUN P CADUYAC, there was an intense resistance and scuffle between the police and the suspect. The suspect drew his firearm and fired a shot to the arresting team prompting the latter to retaliate causing for the instantaneous death of the suspect. The PNP SOCO 13 processed the crime scene.
Based on the report to PMGEN JOEL NAPOLEON M CORONEL, CIDG Director, the said suspect is a Finance Officer and Head of Intelligence of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) and was also involved in numerous violent atrocities targeting military personnel and civilians such as the following:
a. Sychronized attack of Lorenzo Residence in Calinan, Davao City; Burning of Lapanday Corp. Plastic Plant in Panabo City in 2017;
b. Abduction and murder of Loreto, Agusan del Sur Mayor Dario O Otaza and his son Daryl O Otaza in Butuan City on 2015; and
c. Abduction of Jail Warden Coquilla of Compostela in 2015. ###
