Over Php3 Million worth of alleged counterfeit and smuggled cigarettes were seized by operatives of the CIDG based in Region 3 in separate Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija.

32-year-old RICHARD DIMLA y MANUEL and 60-year-old FLORDELIZA DEL PRADO y LLANZA were arrested on August 23, 2021 (Monday) at around 4:50 PM in Don Ignacio Dimson, Dau 2nd, Lubao, Pampanga by CIDG Pampanga PFU and on August 24, 2021 (Tuesday) at about 11:45 PM in Purok Quezon, Esguerra St. Talavera, Nueva Ecija by joint elements of CIDG Nueva Ecija PFU, CIDG Aurora PFU, and RSOG PRO 3 while in the act of selling alleged counterfeit and smuggled cigarettes, respectively.

Seized from the possession of DIMLA as well as the discovery in plain view of several boxes of said cigarettes stored in an open apartment thereat were the following pieces of evidence:

- 725 reams of Union Red cigarettes;
- 365 reams of Two Moon cigarettes;
- 2,196 reams of Fort Red cigarettes;
- 581 reams of D&B cigarettes;
- 328 reams of Mighty Green cigarettes;
- 415 reams of Marvels cigarettes;
- 104 reams of Marlboro Red cigarettes;
- 12 reams of Manjhing cigarettes; and
- 35 reams of RGD cigarettes.

Meanwhile, confiscated from DEL PRADO’s possession and control were the following items:

- 464 reams of assorted cigarettes;
- Marked money;
- Boodle money; and
- White Isuzu Elf closed van.

The inventory of the seized items was made in the presence of witnesses from the Barangays, representatives from IP Manila, PMFTC, and BIR.

Separate cases for violation of RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines) were charged against the arrested persons.

PMGEN ALBERT IGNATIUS D FERRO, CIDG Director said that these operations are in accordance with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s directive of intensifying their campaign against counterfeit and smuggled goods in the country. “Kaya nga po puspusan rin ang ating SACLEO upang masigurado ang matagumpay na police operation sa pagpapanagot ng mga may sala,” added CIDG Director.
