25 August 2021 - Three (3) successive police operations were conducted by CIDG in Region 4A against individuals involved in unauthorized dispensing/selling of Pharmaceutical Products on Wednesday afternoon in the cities of Quezon and Parañaque and Quezon Province.

Four (4) individuals identified as 36-year-old SUNNY FIRMEZA JR. y GABATON, 30-year-old RHONA MARIE CASTILLO, 32-year-old JUNESSA CAPUNO y SUMALINO, and 35-year-old ARLENE SOLINA y MACARIOLA were arrested during a buy-bust operation wherein the following combined pharmaceutical products amounting to Php218,739.00 were confiscated from their possession and control:

 Sixty-six (66) bottles containing Ivermectin 15mg tablets;
 Ninety-one (91) pieces of Amoxicillin Axmel 500mg;
 Thirty-three (33) pieces of Amoxicillin Trihydrate Vhellox 500mg;
 Fifteen (15) pieces of Amoxicillin Trihydrate and Axmel; and
 Fifteen (15) pieces of Cefalexin Exel 500mg;

Aside from the said products, a Ford Focus bearing plate number ARA 8069 and the marked money were also seized.

FIRMEZA and CASTILLO were arrested at about 2:00 PM at SM North EDSA, North Avenue corner EDSA, Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City by detectives of the CIDG Cavite PFU, while CAPUNO was arrested at about 4:00 PM at #4341A Clipper Avenue, Bayview, Brgy. Tambo, Parañaque City by combined elements of CIDG Cavite PFU and Parañaque CPS. Meanwhile, SOLINA was arrested at around 5:12 PM in Angustias, Zone 4, Tayabas City, Quezon by operatives from CIDG Quezon PFU, Catanauan MPS, 405th RMFB 4A, and Tayabas CPS.

Violation of RA 10918 (Philippine Pharmacy Act) was filed against the arrested persons while the additional case for violation of RA 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009) was filed against FIRMEZA, CASTILLO, and CAPUNO.

“Sa ganitong panahon na kung saan ang ating mga kababayan ay naghahanap ng solusyon upang proteksyunan ang kanilang sarili at pamilya, marami ring mga indibidwal o grupo ang nananamantala rito. Selling or dispense of any pharmaceutical products especially those unregistered or without proper authority from FDA or any governing government agency is illegal and punishable by law,” CIDG Director, PMGEN ALBERT IGNATIUS D FERRO said.
