Detectives of the CIDG based in Southern Leyte together with Tanauan Police Station arrested Tanauan’s No 9 Most Wanted Person on the morning of April 5, 2022 in Brgy Binolo.
The CIDG identified the suspect as Rogelio Mijares y Mesias a.k.a “Ruel,” “Rodgel,” and “Sudlot” who was arrested by virtue of an Alias Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Irene T Pontejos, the Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 7 (Family Court), Tacloban City, Leyte for the crime of Lascivious Conduct under Sec.5 (B), Art. III of RA 7610.
Mijares was the suspect in the November 2021 incident where he threatened and molested a Grade 11 student. Accordingly, while the victim was on her way home, the suspect grabbed her, covered her mouth, and threatened her that he will kill her if she shouts. During the malicious intent, the victim was able to fool the suspect by saying she will obey him. Seeing an opportunity to ask for help, the victim shouted causing her to escape from the suspect’s hands.
As reported to PMGen Eliseo DC Cruz, CIDG Director, Mijares is a member of “Tomas Group” engaged in illegal recruitment and prostitution operating in Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Manila.
The CIDG is persistent in its commitment to enforce the law through its intensified anti-criminality campaigns including efforts that protect women and children in order to keep the citizens and the community safe and secured, and to make felons pay for their crimes behind bars.
