The CIDG RFU 8, on Tuesday (April 5, 2022) has captured two of Leyte’s Most Wanted Persons in separate manhunt operations in Leyte and Tacloban City.

At around 10:18 AM in Brgy Baybay, in Carigara, No 7 MWP Jeir Cospada y Palmes, was arrested by joint elements of CIDG Northern Leyte PFU and local PNP units by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Emelinda R. Maquilan, the Presiding Judge of RTC Br. 13, Carigara, Leyte for the crime of Rape.

Investigation revealed that sometime in January 2021, the suspect sexually molested his victim while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The victim with her grandparents personally reported the incident and filed their complaint at Carigara Police Station.

Meanwhile, at about 11:05 AM in Brgy 29, Tacloban City, detectives of CIDG Western Samar along with the PNP local units nabbed No 8 MWP Romell Basilan y Ubaldo on the strength of Warrants of Arrest, all issued by Hon. Irene T. Pontejos, the Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 7 (Family Court), Tacloban City, Leyte for eight counts of Acts of Lasciviousness in relation to RA 7610 and six counts of violation of Sec. 10 (A) of RA 7610.

Accordingly, in September of 2018, Basilan gratified his sexual desire and committed lascivious acts to an 11-year-old girl who was riding with him on his motorcycle.

Both accused are now under the temporary custody of their respective arresting PNP units while waiting for their turn-over to the courts of origin.
