Detectives of the CIDG arrested a 50-year-old lady who defrauded over a quarter of a billion pesos from her victims during a manhunt operation in the morning of April 29, 2022, in Itogon, Benguet.

Armed with a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Maria Cheryl B. Laqui-Ceguera, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court, NCJR, Branch 268, Pasig City, the CIDG Benguet Field Unit arrested FREDA CERDENIOLA NAKIHID who is wanted for the crime of Estafa under Article 315 para 2(a) of the RPC.

In their statements, victims revealed that from 2018 to 2022, Nakihid with her cohorts made false pretenses of introducing themselves as those who were engaged in a mining business or industry and lured their victims to invest in the said business with a promise of a 10%-20% monthly interest. Their victims invested a total of Php328,275,000.00 cash however, the suspect failed to comply with his obligations despite several demands from the complainants.

Nakihid is now under the custody of the said CIDG unit for disposition prior her turn-over to the issuing court.

The CIDG again reiterated to the public of being cautious and observant of the modus operandi of syndicates that promise high interest to those who will invest in their bogus businesses. Promising a "high monthly interest rate" or "high return of investment" is a major and most noticeable clue that a would-be victim is entering a sham investment.
