Joint operatives of CIDG NCR Field Unit, Philippine Army and local PNP units arrested an Officer of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and one other during the service of Warrant of Arrest on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at about 4:00 AM in Nara Blvd., Greenwoods Heights, Paliparan II, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Armed with the said Warrant issued by Presiding Judge Jezarene Aquino of Branch 5, RTC 2, authorities arrested EVANGELINE RAPANUT y PONCE a.k.a. “VICKY RAMOS”, 71 years old who is wanted for Murder and Frustrated Murder.

During the police operation, 45-year-old RANDY TAMAYO y BELEN a.k.a “Deng” tried to stop the arresting team to effect the said warrant prompting the latter to put him under arrest. Rapanut was found to be in possession of a caliber 9mm ARMSCOR pistol and MK-II hand grenade while an M16 rifle, three (3) magazines for caliber 5.56 rifle, 57 rounds of ammunition, two (2) ¼ lbs TNT, a 37.19ft long detonating cord, 1ft long time fuse, and eight pieces non-electric blasting caps were seized in the possession of Tamayo.

The arresting team also recovered from the suspects a laptop, six (6) hard drives, 13 USB, 19 SD cards, and 39 assorted cellular phones.

Rapanut is known to be a CPP Central Committee member designated as the 2nd Deputy Secretary for Organization and Deputy Secretary of National Education Department (NED). She is also a former Secretary of Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV). Meanwhile, Tamayo is identified as NED’s communication staff of the said CTG.

The arrested CTG members were presented before the Cavite Prosecutors Office on June 1, 2022 at about 4:00 PM for inquest proceedings for violations of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act), RA 9516 or the Law on Explosives, and PD 1829 or the Obstruction of Justice docketed under IV-24-INQ-22F-369.

The arrest of said CTG members is a manifestation of the stern commitment of the CIDG to support our government to end all atrocities perpetrated by such radical groups.
