Armed with a Warrant of Arrest, joint elements of CIDG Sulu Field Unit, Philippine Army and local PNP units arrested a member of the Abu Sayaff Group on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at around 11:18 AM in Brgy Seit Lake, Poblacion, Panamao, Sulu.

The said warrant was issued by Hon. Shaidilyn B. Bangsaja, the Acting Presiding Judge of RTC, Branch 3, Jolo, Sulu and was served against 39-year-old JAMAR ISMON JULAID a.k.a. “JAMS" for violation of Sec 8 of RA 10168 or the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012.

Julaid is a known member of the “Daulah Islamih Financial Conduit/ASG-KFRG” operating in the southern part of the country. He was involved in the kidnapping of 10 Indonesian nationals who were taken away from a tugboat that was passing through the seawaters of Malaysia on March 26, 2016. Through his PNB bank account, he received an amount of USD21,992.40 or equivalent to Php1,007,468.40 as partial payment from the Php25 million ransom demand.

The arrested person was brought to Panamao MPS office for temporary custody.

The CIDG through the continuous conduct of its anti-criminality campaigns will track and arrest offenders no matter how long it takes and wherever they may be.
