A member of a gun-for-hire group involved in the shooting incident in Calamba City was arrested on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at about 12:30 PM, during a police operation launched by joint elements of the CIDG Laguna Field Unit and local PNP units in Kanluran, Sitio Majada In-Housing, Brgy. Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna.

The police implemented a Search Warrant issued by Hon. Glenda R. Mendoza-Ramos, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 36, Calamba City, Laguna against HILARIO FAJARDO MABAGA, SR a.k.a. “Larry” or “Bente Uno” wherein seized from his possession and control were a caliber .45 pistol, a steel magazine, seven rounds of ammunition, and a holster.

Mabaga is a known member of the “Ireneo Fajardo Group” engaged in gun-for-hire, kidnap-for-ransom, robbery/hold-up, illegal gambling and illegal drug activities operating in the 1st and 2nd Districts of Laguna.

Police averred that Mabaga who was tagged as Region 4A’s Most Wanted Person with a monetary reward of Php100,000.00 was previously arrested sometime in 2004 in Brgy Bawi, Padre Garcia, Batangas for his involvement in the kidnapping and slaying of businessman Simeon Gadiola. During that time, he was also charged for violation of RA 9165 for putting up a small Shabu laboratory and was later released in 2019.

Mabaga returned to his unlawful ways and became the primary suspect in the shooting incident transpired on April 5, 2020 in Sitio MCDC, Purok 17, Brgy Canlubang, Calamba City victimizing a 26-year-old Beverly Barriento who was shot in the head.
