A news reporter voluntarily surrendered himself on Thursday (June 2, 2022) morning to the Office of CIDG Detective and Special Operations Unit inside Camp Crame in Quezon City.

REY EVIA REQUEJO, a 54-year-old Manila Standard reporter, presented and surrendered himself to CIDG Director, PMGen Eliseo DC Cruz for his four (4) counts of Libel case as defined under Art. 355, in relation to Sec. 4(c) Par.4 of RA 10175 otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 in the Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Victorino Oliveros Maniba, Jr., the Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 39, Sixth Judicial Region, Iloilo City docketed under Criminal Case No. 22-87354 to 22-87357.

Requejo decided to surrender upon knowing that said warrant was issued against him and is now under the temporary custody of DSOU office prior his turn over and the warrant of arrest’s return to the court of origin.

The CIDG lauds the decision of Requejo and averred that his decision is a big step for the eventual resolution of his case.
