A 39-year-old man who pretends to be an AFP personnel was arrested by CIDG Southern Metro Manila Field Unit and Army Intelligence Regiment during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 6:00 PM in Barangay 177, Caloocan City.

Authorities identified the suspect as JUN MONTANO LEMANA a.k.a. “Bay”, a known member of the “Andaya Criminal Group” who, according to the reports received by the said CIDG unit poses as an active member of the AFP engaged in gunrunning activities in the northern part of Metro Manila.

The CIDG immediately validated the report and confirmed that the suspect was a former AFP personnel and indeed engaged in the said illegal activity.

Lemana was caught selling a caliber .45 pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition to a police undercover. During their transaction, the suspect also offered to sell a hand grenade. Seized during the police operation were a caliber .45 pistol, five (5) rounds of ammunition, a hand grenade, a set of AFP uniform, two (2) IDs (AFP ID and membership ID), and marked and boodle money.

The arrested person is now under the temporary custody of the said CIDG unit while the seized firearm and grenade will be examined by PNP EOD. Meanwhile, complaints for violations of RA 10591 in relation to Comelec Resolution 10728 (Gun Ban), RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives), and Article 177 (Usurpation of Official Functions) and Article 179 (Illegal Use of Uniforms or Insignia) of the RPC will be filed against the suspect.

The CIDG in its commitment to ensure that criminality will be suppressed will be relentless in implementing and intensifying its anti-criminality campaigns against lawless elements including those members or pretending to be members of the law enforcement agencies.
