POGO, or Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator, is without question one of the major concerns of the Philippine National Police at the moment with regard to the recent killings and abductions that involved Chinese nationals.

The PNP's primary investigative unit, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, is continuing to keep a close eye on these foreigners who are the cause of the country's rising crime rate.

On September 15, 2022, operatives of CIDG conducted a police operation against five (5) suspects, four of which were Chinese Nationals and one (1) Filipino identified as follows:

1.) YAP TIONG EE, Chinese National, 37 years old (DOB: April 4, 1985), HR staff and a resident of Marina Sea view Residence Tower F1001 Tambo Paranaque City.

2.) LI WEI XIONG, Chinese National, 40 years old (February 24, 1983), Pogo Employee and a resident of Shore Residence Tower A Pasay City.

3. ) LI XING, Chinese National, 38 years old, (DOB: January 1, 1985) ,Pogo Employee and a residence of Midas Hotel Pasay City.

4.) CHUI QUN ,28 y/o, (DOB: May 25,1995) single, POGO Staff and residing at Pearl Plaza Tambo Paranaque City.

5.)ERNESTO CRUZ JR. y RENINA, 42 years old (DOB: May 13, 1980),Driver and a residence of 1033 Kalye Onse Sumapang Matanda Malolos Bulacan.

The operation emanated from the complaint of Mr. Jerry Go, a Chinese National who personally appeared and reported the incident to CIDG. Allegedly, his friend AMY DAN LI, female, also Chinese National was abducted on September 14, 2022, at about 5:00 PM at Shore Residence Tower of Pasay City. According to the complainant, the suspects called him and demanded 2 million pesos in exchange for the release of victim AMY DAN LI.

Meanwhile, on September 15, 2022, Acting on the said complaint, the CIDG planned an entrapment operation against the suspects. At about 4:00 PM on the same date, the operatives were able to arrest suspects CHUI QUN and ERNESTO CRUZ JR. y RENINA while victim AMY DAN LI was found and rescued inside the grey van used by the suspects. Also recovered from the scene was one caliber 45 pistol and 2 million pesos entrapment money.

On the same date at about 7:00 PM a follow-up operation was conducted by CIDG inside a POGO office located at PITX Paranaque City which resulted in the arrest of suspects YAP TIONG EE, LI WEI XIONG and LI XING, all Chinese Nationals. The three suspects were positively identified by the kidnap victim.

Accordingly, the arrested suspects are identified members of Zi Criminal Group (DI Unlisted CG) under the Information Report dated February 9, 2022, engaged in Kidnapping/Abduction and Illegal detention in the Southern part of Metro Manila.

The five (5) suspects are now under the custody of CIDG NCR Southern DFU for temporary detention while preparing charges of violations of RA 1084 (Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention), RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Live Ammunition) and article 293 of RPC (Robbery Extortion).

The CIDG Director, PBGen Ronald O Lee, issues a strong warning to these Chinese nationals, telling them to think twice before engaging in or continuing to engage in serious criminal activity within the country. He adds, "I have instructed my operatives to not go easy on you, otherwise, you’ll suffer a greater consequence for your offense within the bounds of the law. The CIDG is committed to arresting and deporting these heinous criminals to put an end to their criminal activity."
